Therafirm Holds Grand Opening of New Plant in Hamlet, NC

KANSAS CITY, KS – June 19, 2013 – Therafirm, a Knit-Rite company, held a grand opening for it’s new textile manufacturing facility in Hamlet, NC.

The company recently moved its North Carolina operations from Ellerbe, NC to its newly renovated, state-of-the-art Hamlet facility. Chris Vering, Executive Vice President and COO, stated, “We could not be more pleased with the support provided by Richmond County, the city of Hamlet and Richmond Community College for our Therafirm plant in Hamlet. As we have grown the last several years, Richmond County and Richmond Community College have always been there to support us and the city of Hamlet was great to work with during the building renovation process. This pro-business environment made it an easy decision to stay in Richmond County.”

After completion of construction in the Spring, Therafirm opened its doors on June 18th to host tours of the facility, hold a ribbon cutting ceremony, and offer remarks from key attendees. “We were very pleased with the turnout of over 250 people for our Grand Opening. Not only did we have our employees and their families, but also customers from throughout the US, vendors and many officials from Richmond County, Hamlet and Richmond Community College”, said Vering.

The new facility offers expanded capabilities and capacity for the company. With its purchase of Therafirm Compression Products in 2000, Knit-Rite marked its expansion into the Compression Hosiery industry. With recent innovations such as the patented Corespun by Therafirm® support line, Knit-Rite remains committed to providing products that deliver healthy benefits for a better quality of life. Mark Smith, President and CEO, stated, “We are proud of our 90 years in the medical textile business and our continued commitment to producing American made textiles, along with being grateful for the opportunities we have to contribute to innovative solutions for our customers and good jobs for our people and the US economy. We are excited to locate our plant here, and look forward to growing in Hamlet in the years to come.”
